Cardigan High Street in the summertime - a lovely little market town

There's a particular kind of magic that settles over Ceredigion in July. The hedgerows are heavy with wildflowers, the Heritage Coast is at its sparkling best, and every market town seems to have something going on. If you're planning a Welsh staycation this summer, you're in good company — and you couldn't have picked a better base than Troedyrhiw.

Whether you're travelling with children, four-legged friends, or a big group of extended family, here's your guide to making the most of Ceredigion this summer.

What's On in Ceredigion This Summer

Lampeter Food Festival — Saturday 25 July
Held on the university campus under the shade of mature trees, this is the county's best-loved celebration of local produce. Expect stalls piled high with Welsh cheese, cakes, ciders and crafts, live cookery demonstrations, and music drifting across the quad. It's an easy, relaxed day out and only a short drive from the cottage.

Fishguard Festival Fortnight — 18 to 31 July
Various venues across Fishguard come alive for this two-week celebration, making it a great flexible option if you want to drop in for an evening during your stay.

New Quay Weekend — 31 July to 2 August
One of Cardigan Bay's prettiest harbour towns hosts a lively weekend of events. Combine it with dolphin-watching from the headland and fish and chips on the seafront for a perfect coastal day. Headlining this summer are 80’s icons, T’Pau and Toploader!

Aberaeron Beer and Cider Festival — Saturday 8 August
Hosted by Aberaeron Yacht Club, this colourful harbourside festival brings together Welsh ciders, beers, live music and entertainment well into the evening — ideal for the grown-ups in the group once the kids are tucked up.

Cardigan River and Food Festival — Saturday 15 August
Right on our doorstep. Watch traditional Teifi coracle races, sample local food and craft stalls, and soak up the atmosphere on the quayside.

Aberystwyth Beer Festival — 21 to 23 August
Eight venues across the town centre, over 60 ciders and beers, and free entry — a proper end-of-summer celebration.

Why Base Yourself at Troedyrhiw

Troedyrhiw sits in the sweet spot between total peace and quiet and easy access to everything above. A few reasons our guests keep coming back:

Genuinely dog-friendly — not an afterthought, but built into how the cottage works, with farm animals and open space your dog will love as much as you do;

Room for everyone — sleeping up to 23 guests, it's ideal for multi-generational family gatherings or friends coming together for a big Welsh summer;

On the doorstep of the Ceredigion Heritage Coast — dolphins, cliff walks and golden beaches are all within easy reach;

A proper rural escape — after a day at a busy festival, come home to birdsong, dark skies and total quiet.

Plan Your Stay
